What is a Whole Plant Extract?

When referring to cannabis, a “Whole Plant Extract” means the product contains the wide range of cannabis compounds naturally offered in the original plant. With this approach, the plant’s potentially therapeutic compounds: terpenes, flavonoids, and cannabinoids, are retained as much as possible and end up providing substantially more benefits than a distillate or an isolate product. This diversity not only provides the flavor and aroma of a plant but also contributes to the unique experience and therapeutic effects of individual strains.

With CO2 extraction, we can control the conditions to selectively extract these cannabis compounds. First, with lower pressure and lower temperatures, we extract the plant’s terpenes. Yes, we can do it! There are naysayers out there, particularly the butane and propane extraction operations, but CO2 does extract terpenes. We collect that terpene fraction and preserve it to maintain its integrity as the original cultivators intended. From there, the cannabinoids are more resilient so we begin increasing temperatures and pressures to extract all the different cannabinoids present.

The Lucky Turtle extraction process results in greater cannabinoid diversity and higher levels of CBG, CBC, and certain strains will contain THCV. All these cannabinoids, along with THC, CBD, flavonoids, and terpenes provide that whole plant, or full spectrum, extract. These all interact with your endocannabinoid system to give you a better high with a truly strain-specific experience.
